I was down in the shop moving stuff around and was going to fire up the camaro
to move it out and up to the trailer.... so I could store it while I worked on
the Berkley.... I'd put the hood back on and jumped in the car... and went
through the normal starting procedure.... cranked till I had oil pressure and
threw the Ignition on.... ran for about 5 seconds and Pooof.... the car went
up in flames.... shut the car down and jumped out.... used the shops fire
extinguisher.... pulled the pins and used 10lb halon system in the car and
then got out the water hose..... took five minutes to get out the raging
fire..... to give you an idea of how hot it was it melted a set of mini blinds
30 feet away....

The shop sustained minor soot damage to everything and the front of the Camaro
is gone.... all the wiring.... and rubber.... belt drive.... radiator
melted.... both battery's ..... so on and so forth..... it's not totaled but
it doesn't miss it by much. the windshield burned hot enough to start the
roof paint on fire...

Don't know what happened exactly.... the car is exactly like it ran last
weekend at Maxton.... hadn't touched a thing... so who knows..... seems like
the fire was coming from under the car.... so maybe float bowl flooded and
went into the headers..... the fire was REALLY HOT....

Not a pretty day at my place... the Berkley was sitting right beside it but
wasn't really damaged other then the soot and dry chemical..... I've got most
of it wiped off....

Life is a precious commodity.... this was just a race car.... one I happened
to be in love with.... but just stuff....

Keith ( smile... I just got some minor burns on my hands and knee when I
snatched the hood off ..... lucky I didn't have it duzed down )
