curiosity.
Neil (I think) suggested that this is probably "snakeoil", and I had
somewhat the same feeling. However, the more I learn, the more I am
inclined to think it might be something of real value.
Read below, and you'll see they are willing to offer landspeed racers a nice
price break.
At this price (about the same as three rusted-out drivechains), it's worth a
try. I think you'll probably see one of these systems on my bike, the next
time I drag-out to Bonneville.

Thanks for your interest in Counteract corrosion control systems, and
congratulations on your record. Coincidentally we've recently had several
other inquiries from people involved in Landspeed Racing.
Perhaps you heard of our product through our association with Dr. "Rocky"
Jewell in the Boeing Racing club. We designed and provided them with a
corrosion control system for a motorcycle that they are using in an attempt
to capture the 50cc land speed record.
Additionally, just up the road from Bonneville (actually a considerable
distance "up the road" just outside of Ogden, Utah") is one of our oldest
customers, Great Salt Lake Minerals. Great Salt Lake has been using our
products since the late 80's to combat corrosion on mobile equipment used in
their potash harvesting operation. They have some 30 square miles of brine
concentrating channels and ponds, the final concentrate being well over 300
times saltier than ocean water. Our systems are operating on almost all of
the equipment in the truck fleet that services this equipment daily.
CounterAct is not an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection system.
Unlike conventional Cathodic Protection systems that function well in buried
or submerged environments, our system was designed to address corrosion of
metals exposed to the atmosphere. Our Capacitive coupling method is a
patented process that employs a cycled electrostatic charge to reduce the
rate of corrosion reactions. It does this by periodically inducing a
negative charge on the metal surface that is being protected. The
electrostatic field that results from this pulsed surface charge alternately
polarizes and depolarizes any moisture or patches of electrolyte that
normally condense or settle on metal surfaces or on the paint covering the
metal. The polarization/ depolarization resulting from the varying
electrostatic field serves to reduce the rate of anion and cation migration
within the electrolyte and especially across the double layer of charge that
forms adjacent to the corroding metal surface. This results in a reduction
of the overall amount of charge that can be transported through the
electrolyte in the "external circuit" of a corrosion reaction over a given
period of time. It simply performs as a catalyst for the reaction by
reducing the rate at which the corrosion reaction can progress.
As far as effectiveness, independent laboratory heat and humidity chamber
tests have shown our product to reduce corrosion migration by over 70% as
compared to unprotected test panels.
Probably our most appropriate field study relative to your corrosion
situation at Bonneville, would be the company we mentioned before, Great
Salt Lake Minerals ( now Compass Minerals). When they first started using
our products, the expected life cycle of a new pick-up truck when first
put into service on their job was around 18 months.
At the 18 month mark, the doors were literally falling off them. They found
through their service records that after they started using our corrosion
control systems this 18 month expected life cycle had jumped to over 42
months. An extra two years is pretty significant considering the cost of a
new full size pick-up. They've probably purchased around 100 of our systems
for their service vehicles. Also many of the people who work there have our
systems on their personal vehicles. The effectiveness of our corrosion
control system on vehicles that operate on a daily basis in these extreme
conditions (heat, salt, wet and dry cycles, and mud and salt poltice
corrosion) suggest that they should fit the bill for your corrosion
problems at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

For the first application you asked about in your email the Suzuki RSX-R600,
we would suggest our MC-2 system. This normally has a suggested retail of
$299.95 The Club pricing on this model is $141.95 for the chromechrome case
version, or $124.95 for the standard anodized aluminum case.
For your trailer depending on battery capacity we would suggest either of
two variations of our GSL-2 which model normally retails $399.95 installed.

package with NiMH batteries retails for $79.95 and would cost an additional

If the battery capacity on your trailer is a concern we would strongly
recommend our optional SP solar panel and rechargable battery pack. We
developed this package for a custom system we produce under private label
for a major boat trailer manufacturer. They are selling our system for both
their painted steel trailers and for controlling dissimilar metal corrosion
on aluminum trailers. All of our units have input voltage sensing circuitry
that will shut the unit off before it flattens the source battery, but when
this happens, the protection is also lost. The SP package allows our
corrosion control system to operate independently of the vehicle main
battery
