At long last the inventory of Don Vesco's scale model collection is
It is comprised mainly of Indianapolis racers, sprints and midgets with
rather few LSR vehicles or motorcycles. This was a surprise to me, but
revealed a great affection Don had for other forms of motorsport that I
never knew. There is also an interesting group of trucks, tether cars, or
thimble dromes, or some other name I am not sure about yet.
Add a few dozen liquor bottles shaped like race cars. Some are made of
ceramic, glass, wood and even some toys -- very old to new like Hot Wheels
Don loved aircraft, so there are few flying machines and engines including a
magnificent old control line Beech that needs a full restoration.
The entire collection is for sale. Before it goes on eBay, you have ONE
chance to speak up and this is it. The list has been developed in an Excel
spreadsheet and has a photo for most item. If you have any interest in
taking a peek, email me and I will send the file as an attachment.
Some of you have already indicated you wish the file and I will be sending
those out first. To be fair, it will be a first come, first serve, based on
the time and date of the email.
What has NOT been done is the pricing, that is Rick's job and he is just
getting to that mission now. The vast majority of this collection will be
offered at affordable prices so that anyone who wants a little piece of Don
Vesco's joy and fun will be able to do so. There are a few dazzlers, but we
expect serious collectors to snap them up.
Above all, please be patient with us, this has been an arduous task thus far
and the devil is in the details with project such as this.
