Tom;

Of the weldable grades of aluminum, the most common is 6061, a fairly high
strength grade in T-6; 5052 is a good general-purpose alloy, and 3003 is
very easy to form shapes with.

With the right rod, they can be welded together but I wouldn't do that if it
is a structural member.

I am wanting to make a turbo manifold for our motorcycle. It will be out of
aluminum. What type or grade of aluminum is acceptable? Does anybody know
what type of aluminum the fuel injection "bungs" or "couplings" are made
from? How compatable are the various forms of aluminum when it comes to
welding them together?

Thanks, Tom
