If memory serves 3003 is nice and soft ... and would work very well for
tanks... -as you already know...
5052 is good durable body metal. what did you use ? .045 ? .055 ? any
thicker and it'll get 'tough' to bend in a hurry!

I may have made a mistake but I made mine from 3003. 10 gallon rectangle.
Kept welds to a minimum and hard anadized because of nitro. I have not had
a problem. I made 2 water tanks out of steel. Bolt on aluminum top. Lined
both with gasoline tank sealer. no problem with either of those too. Good
Luck. PS: I made my roadster hood and side panels from 5052. Were hard to
bend but they are great when finished.
