Pertaining to Mechanical F.I. or Carburetors, "not" EFI:

The LM-1 DAQ system will allow 4 inputs (0-5v) in addition to RPM. It has
been suggested on this list, a good use for one of them would be a throttle
position sensor (TPS). Since I'm not sure of the milli volt output of a TPS,
how to calibrate it, or even aware of the myriad of models out there, I was
thinking of another option instead of the TPS. What would be wrong with a
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor? It would be a heck of a lot easier
to install. (No linkage to worry about, and just a simple tap into the
manifold). WFO would be equally as obvious as a TPS. It may even provide
more meaningful data since it would reflect altitude changes (as well as
barometric changes during the day). A TPS does none of that. Since there
are precious few inputs and you needed to select one or the other why would
a TPS be better than a MAP? -Elon
