I remember starting in 1961 or so when the Olds F 85 Jet Fire turbo 215's had
water/alcohol injection - Olds engineering must have thought the water/alcohol
was important to stop detonation - They went to the trouble of using a
carburetor with an extra throttle butterfly in series with the foot operated
one that partly closed if the water/alcohol mix ran out - They called the mix
rocket fuel or something similar - Wonder if the alcohol was there to improve
the effect or as antifreeze .
