Yep, Prolly could! My dad ha a 1957 Chrysler 300C that he let me use for
"special" dates. I had just taken my girlfriend home after the regional
basketball playoff and drove back by the A&W for one last look. There were a
few guys still there, but nothing much happening. As I pulled back out onto
the road, somebody yelled that I should "Burn-em". I punched it to the floor
before I was fully straightened out, spun a quick (very unintentional and
scaring the crap out of me) 360, got straight on the highway, and saw a
rotating red beacon coming up behind me.

The light chased me well out into the county, so I figured it was either the
highway patrol ('57 Fords) or the Sheriff - '49 Ford. The light was not
catching me, so I ran a little farther, killed the lights, and turned off the
highway onto a side road. My heart beating in my ears, I drove around for
about a half hour but never saw another lawman. It was near midnight, (t wo
hours past my "father-invoked-curfew", so I headed home.

As I turned onto our darkened subdivision street, I turned off the lights and
rolled silently towards our house. When I krept up into the driveway, I
realized there was a green and white '49 Ford in the carport, and my dad and
the County Sheriff were sitting out on the lawn in a couple of lawn chairs
enjoying two cold beers.

I had no idea that my dad even knew the County Sheriff!! - - - Does the word
"Grounded" bring back memories?
