Here are the details from Ray Wakefield in South Africa - navigator to the
fastest blind driver in the world.

"The bike that ran an average 402.32kph flying kilometre last week , with
his
fastest one-way being 407.29, was a Turbocharged Suzuki Hyabusa, ridden by
Neels
Geldenhuis. I believe it was built by him at his workshop KCR Motorcycle
Fanatix, in Johannesburg. I suspect that it has an engine capacity of
about 1380cc.

He has a history here of producing some very fast machinery, including a
street legal Hyabusa that reached 327kph at the end of a 1km standing
start.

Fransie Englebrecht, who is well known in American Drag Racing circles,
particularly by his admirer and mentor, Rickey Gadson, turned a 343.49 kilo
(351.94 and 335.04) on a Kawasaki ZX 12 to take the Group A1 1300 class
record, whilst Bill Hunter on a Suzuki GSXR 1000 took the Group A1 1000 cc
record at 335.41 (340.36 + 350.46).

The overall S A Land Speed Record by Johan Jacobs in his jet car
'Showdown',
was 502.95, with a best of 503.33. This was achieved with something like a
700 metre run up to the Km start light. His car is originally American
built.
Details of this can be found on his website www.showdownjet.com"

If you feel that you would like a new challenge on South African concrete,
tarmac or desert playa then contact Ray through the website
www.speedrecordsa.co.za and Ray and his colleagues can find you the best
location to run fast. As the organisation 'speedrecord SA' is not
affiliated to any one governing body you could run to anyones rules that
you may choose ...... F1, SCTA, FIA, FIM, why?...
