In the off season I have lowered the engine and moved it back which forced
me to change the stock 82 S 10 idler arm type steering. I was going to go
with the early type of steering in which one radius rod is between the two
steering arms and the pitman arm is tied to the passenger arm. My partner
said
it wouldn't work but gave no reasons other than he is smarter than I. This
is true but I needed more information than that before I would be convinced,
so I ignored him. Today, Duane Cole of DC Waterjet dropped by to look at
it and also said it wouldn't work and gave good logical reasons. He also is a
lot smarter than I. He says you have to use either a solid axle or no
suspension for this to type of steering to function. Returning to the idler
arm
set up would be a major pain. He suggested a rack and pinion. Has any one
else made the same mistake (single radius rod and independent suspension)
that I did and what happened?
