Bobby, It is indeed "best" to let everything cool down after applying full
load to a turbocharger before shut down, but that does not mean you will kill
it
if you don't. The best we can do is a few seconds (5 to 20 depending) of near
idle before shut down. What happens is as you shut off the oil supply and the
unit is hot it will "coke" or bake the oil in the housing, over time it will
accumulate and fail the turbo. If you must shut down right after a pass when
you are clear of the course and stopped restart the engine and let it ran a
minute or so to remove any residue.
Bottom line...don't worry just be aware.
