Otto,

I have to apologize for my bad English, I'm from far Germany.

But I'm well known at the salt and in the speed community.

After I followed the notes on this list for the last days, I thought I like to
write my comment to all of this what I read.

First of ALL: It's the need for speed which brings you into this sport - it's
not a 2 Club cap.

It's doesn't matter how fast you go - 90 mph or 400 mph.

If you set a new record than you done something.

What I mean - if you run in a class where the record stand for years
untouchable at 120 mph and you build a racer which set a new mark at 140 mph,
than is this a great record.

In 1996, when a old friend of mine brought his racer to the salt, the Spirit
of America Sonic Arrow (I mean Craig Breedlove) a guy from LA was there, from
the USA today. Normally he wrote about Formula 1, Nascar, Cart.

He asked me what speed means and the salt. I told him: "Dream, Nascar/Formula
1/CART - this is business - this here on the salt, speed, means dream. Someone
got the dream to build a fast car to set a record. He build this with a group
of friends who use all there free time, due to this that we are the last
amateur in sport, to get this dream true. Than he brings this dream with his
friends to the salt. At last he goes homes, with a record certification or
with some more expierence."

This guy asked me some more questions and later I heard that he used my words
as a interview in the USA today - I still smile about that.

Speed at the salt means, to go racing with a lot of friends, have a great time
with them and this always as a tough but fair competitor.
