Most platings and anodizings build up just a few ten-thousandths of an inch, 
excepting hard anodizing, some copper baths and of course dip galvanizing.
And the surface has to be exposed to react to the galvanic effects of 
dissimilar metals. An example would be a "zinc" on a boat, where you don't want 
to bottom paint it. In that same vein anodizing is electrically isulative, 
which is an easy test for it. So plate, paint or wax.....BJ in Beantown
