Seems simple and self correcting in many ways. I think you need to look
at it from the casino point of view if you want to make some impact.
First the rooms are not a profit center they are an unfortunate
necessity and liability to be in the casino business. Have you ever seen
a casino without rooms.. Maybe they are out there I never saw one
though. The gamblers have to have a place to crash or they will not show
up hence the need for rooms. The casino is the profit center in the long
run. Also the reason food and booze is cheap you have to eat to stay
alive and little booze usually loosens the wallet the girls while not
attractive in my mind are sometimes the only coyotes in the desert and
at least have some redeeming features to gaze at. 4 or 5 margaritas do
make them a bit more appealing as well. For a given number of rooms
filled I would think they have anticipated gaming revenue. I doubt if we
get close to it. The reason the room rates go up, money has to come from
somewhere so they change the profit center to suit the guests. T make
matters worse for the most part we make a mess.. So if a choice between
us and the golfers as a business decision pretty simple. More likely to
spend money gaming don't trash the place and potentially a higher
deposable income.. The problem is as a group we are cheap and messy. The
chamber of commerce wants the casinos in good financial shape as I
suspect they must employ a major part of the locals, so talking to them
is like talking to your hand. The people to talk to might be the golf
groups and suggest if they move their date by one week we all save some
money..
