[Land-speed] A-arm and other bushings

Has anybody replaced their a-arm bushings with solid metal bushings, reamed
with very little clearance? How about the soft rubber bushing in back on the
control arms? I'm not talking about replacing with high durometer synthetics
but unforgiving solid metal.  Good or bad idea?   TIA :-)
