Electronic ignition in a TD? Why?

The points and coil system is inherently reliable, as long as it is
maintained, like the rest of a car. That is, points are set properly and
periodically cleaned/replaced. Besides, most everyone carries spare points.

If your electronic module goes south when you're on a 1000 mile road trip
(and they have, just ask me), where are you going to find a replacement?

Does anyone have experience in replacing the points and condenser of an MG
TD distribuitor with an electronic device such as the Crane Cams offered by
Moss Motors.
Advantages ?
Disadvantages ?
