Thanks to all who proved valuable help re my screen problem. So what I
have learned is:
- all TD screens are the same height (10 1/4") regardless of the
wiper motor position
- at 11 1/4" the new screen I have bought is not for a TD. The
construction is very similar and it is the same width at the bottom so
I am guessing it is for an MG - possibly a larger tourer Y SA VA? If
anyone can through light on this I would be very grateful so I can
find it a good home.
- I said that the height of my screen is 9 5/8", but it has no
glass in it. The screen was pretty battered and bent and I have
had it worked on by a metal smith. I think what has happened is that
he had put too much of a bow in the bottom rail, which may explain why
I could not get it to sit right between the scuttle mountings. One
of the scuttle mountings was twisted and I have had that fixed, but
still it was not right, so now I shall adjust the height to 10
1/4" and try again. Failing that I have had the offer of a genuine
TD screen which I would gratefully accept.
