Front U-Joint/Tunnel/Parking Brake interference

1977 MGB...........300 Buick V8.........GM T-5 Transmission; Problem is when
engine torgues over under load, front U-Joint interferes with tunnel.  I've
installed an engine restraint to prevent excessive engine movement but the fit
is still very tight.  Also, hand brake interferes with driveshaft.  Any
experience with these problems?  Ideas to remedy?
