I've been routinely putting a smear of grease on every metal-to-metal
contact point of both front and rear brakes at every service for years, even
where the pads have anti squeal shims and the rubberised coating on the
back.  Frequently necessary, usually successful, although the roadster is
still suffering under light braking at low speeds.
