I'VE BEEN READING YOUR GAUGE PROBLEMS AND HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS ON A
1962 MGA MK II. IT TOOK ME AWHILE TO FINALLY SOLVE IT. A NEW SENDING UNIT
WAS NOT THE SOLUTION.

MY FIRST RECOMMENDATION IS TO USE YOUR OLD GAUGE OUTSIDE THE TANK. HOOK
EVERYTHING UP THE SAME AS IF IT WERE IN THE TANK. TURN YOUR KEY ON AND MOVE
THE FLOAT UP AND DOWN WHILE VIEWING THE GAUGE. BE SURE TO GROUND THE GUAGE
TO THE BODY.

IF YOU HAVE ADDED AN IN-LINE FILTER BETWEEN THE TANK AND FUEL PUMP, YOU WILL
NOT HAVE A GROUND.

MY PROBLEM FINALLY CAME DOWN TO THE SCREWS IN THE SENDING UNIT WERE NOT
GROUNDING, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS METAL-TO-METAL.

AFTER HOOKING UP THE SENDING UNIT OUTSIDE AND DETERMINING THE GAUGE AND
SENDING UNIT WERE WORKING, THE GROUNDING PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED.

THAT'S 90% OF ALL MG OR BRITISH CAR (LUCAS) PROBLEMS.

I'VE NOTICED SOME MESSAGES ON MGB DIRECTIONAL LIGHTS NOT WORKING. I'VE ALSO
EXPERIENCED THIS. ON LATER MGB'S THE GROUND WAS BACK ON THE REAR WHERE THE
LICENSE PLATES ATTACH.

GOOD LUCK!
