JIM! The front cover on the all synchro gearbox does have a bit of "flex" to it, so you can certainly use 0.012" of shims. Better to squish that front bearing a bit tight than have it too loose (unlike valve lash). You can use the shims, you can use a prick punch and make a jillion dimples in the front cover, whatever. I use clear silicone RTV sealant on gearbox gaskets -- SPARINGLY!!! Good luck John Twist |
