OK, I'll take a stab at one. I recently went through the brakes on
the Magnette, prior to putting it on the road. I discovered that the
PO had a problem with the hard line on the left front of the car.
This piece is about 10" long and runs from the master cyl to the
rubber flex line. The PO apparantly wasn't sure, so he went down to
the local parts store and bought an 8 foot replacement brake line.
Since that was a bit long, he ran it forward, secured it to the
exhaust manifold with a radiator clamp, wrapped it twice around the
lower radiator hose and ran it straight back. Now it was a little
short and wouldn't quite reach the bracket where the rubber line was.
This doofis solved the problem by removing the bracket and simply
letting the flex line hang free. As an added bonus, he neglected to
replace the bracket nut which doubled as the securing nut for the
upper a-arm on the suspension!
