Brake light switch

For as long as I can remember, the brake light switch in my 77 B has been 
flaky. A new one works for about three months before it completely punks 
out.  Disassembly and inspection consistently reveals severely burned and 
pitted contacts.  Does anybody else have this problem?  More importantly, 
what can I do about it?
