#1 cylinder is clearly not right. Excessive oil consumption  and compression 
confirm this.

With ignition off, take a baseline compression check. Add a couple of 
tablespoons of oil to each cylinder and retest. If pressure on #1 increases, 
the problem is piston rings. If it does not, the problem is valves. With all 
that clatter, I suspect you may have punctured or fractured a piston. If I'm 
right, the compression test may indicate valves, but in reality it may be a 
big enough hole to not allow the oil to increase compression.

In any case, it's head-off for a good look around. (Been there, done that.)
