There should be a big captive nut welded to the floor of your trunk into
which you screw a "holding rod" (I don't know what to call it).
The spare than sits in a position that must have been computer-optimized
such that it minimizes trunk space left. It sits right in the center of
the trunk floor. That's why I carry a can of fix-a-flat instead...
