Hello,

*There are several reasons for a British car to pull to one side, so first:

     1. Decide if the car is always pulling (alignment?) or only on braking.

     2. Decide whether it pulls on acceleration and again on deceleration
(loose rear axle U-bolts)?

     3. Check all brakes (master, lines, unions, hoses, front brakes and rear
brakes).

     4. Check front and rear suspension.

     5. Check steering.

*Potential causes of pulling which you might encounter include:

     A. Calipers which grab unevenly can react differently when you push
back the pads. A weak caliper can provide too little pressure. A stiff
caliper won't retract and thus drags.

     B. Brake flex hoses have collapsed internally or feel spongey causing
uneven pressure either on depressing the pedal or on its return. A collapsed
hose might not return fluid and cause drag. A spongey hose might expand too
much and not provide enough pressure.

     C. Loose front wheel bearings.

     D. Leaking rear wheel cylinders or seals have contaminated the rear
shoes, or ancient stuck rear cylinders won't expand or retract properly.
 Pull the drumsto check.

     E. Suspension is badly worn or out of alignment or a spring leaf has
snapped.

Specifically, since the pulling occurred after pads were replaced, it's
possible that the car had spent a long time with the old thin pads in the
piston-extended position and rust that accumulated on the exposed piston
surface ended up retracted behind the caliper seals when new pads were
installed contributing to inefficient braking.
It's usually best to do all your tests and gather all your information
first before diagnosing or buying parts.

Have fun,

While everyone is on the subject of brakes, I replaced the pads now
when ever I step on the petal the car pulls to the left for a second
and then straightens out . It appears to have full stopping power,
hard petal, and no leaks. The pull is relative to the speed but
always goes back.
Am i correct in assuming that since it is pulling to the left the
problem is in the right front brake?
