The previous owner of Goldie, my '69 B, fabricated a wooden center
console (see my web page for pic's).  He used 1-inch thick pieces
of oak or walnut (?), and it has yet to crack or self destruct.
It looks excellent, especially with the chrome pull-style switches
he used to replace a few faulty Lucas ones ("you don't say!")  As
one who pretty much gave up on wood as a ten-year-old, I can't
really comment on the difficulty of construction, but it seems
pretty straightforward... take a look!
