   greetings, all.

   i have a 79 b,
elec ignition, single carb, orig exhaust(cat converter),
   99k miles.

i have been following this problem with interest.

   my prob:

      VERY intermitent:
         1) mostly in early morning(florida), when driving along at
various speeds/rpms, the engine will SUDDENLY die.
i do not know for sure, but i think the tach continues
            to register.
         2) then either by taking foot off of throttle(maybe coincidence)
or by waitin and pulling to the side, jumpn the clutch or
doing the starter will recrank the engine.
         3) it is typical for this to NOT happen after the car has sat
for an extended period(when i am fixing something else on it)
say a week or two. then after fixing some other problem,
i will drive for approx 2 days and NEVER see the problem.
then as i depend on the b for transportation, i begin
driving early (6am) and usually the problem reappears.
i just drove it 70 miles. on the first 35(morning) i
stopped probably 20 times, only dieing long enough to
incur a roadside maybe 5 times. then on the trip home
at 4pm, she did wonderfully , no sign of the problem.

i have replaced the coil, checked all connections.
i THINK i may have a sticky fuel pump,
but it dies AWFULLY suddenly to make sense.

i had a jeep(88) which had an Elec Control Unit(ECU),
   almost the same symptoms,
