You're probably more accurate in this hypothesis than I...I just remembered
reading somewhere that the change was due to regulation of SOME kind.  As far
as the uglier thing...well, yeah.  It's a matter of opinion though, of
course, but I'd be lieing if I said I wouldn't rather have a chrome bumper
car...and probably will eventually.  

This brings up another interesting question...I have an interest in MGC's,
but don't know much about them, except the fact that they have a six cylander
engine.  The only ones I've ever seen, even in pictures, are the GT, fastback
models.  Were they available as a convertible?
