The current info re Lotus/Daewoo etc. is that Lotus is now being actively
courted by (flirting with) a slew of companies ranging from Daewoo to Alcoa,
with every major parts supplier included (who knows, Moss Motors may be a
potential suitor).
The Daewoo story was broken prematurely by Autoweek after the president of
Daewoo spend serious behind-doors time with the Lotus people at the Geneva
show. But, apparently either Daewoo wanted too much control or didn't offer
enough sterling, and the talks broke off.
Stay tuned.
What is even more interesting is that Autoweek reported this week that all
the minors still in existence (Caterham, McLaren, etc, etc.) are banding
together into a consortium to work on development, marketing, exporting, and
so forth. It could mark a renaissance in nearly-affordable LBCs being sold
in the US of A. . . . . Or not.
