Well, the rolling restoration of my 72 GT continues!

First the question:

How do you get to the clips which hold on the rubber which seals agains the door
glass? I assume that I need to take the glass out of the door, as when I roll
the glass all the way down, it is not low enough to clear. Has anyone replaced
this
rubber? How'd you do it?

Now for the update:

I've been tackling the interior. Bought a carpet kit, and got a new panel kit
with
a convertible I just purchased. Pulled out ALL of the interior carpet and
paneling.
Attacked the surface rust with a wire wheel. Fortunately, there was NO
structural
rust! YES! Doused the cleaned surfaces with Rustoleum rusty metal primer.
Then, put
on 3 cans of 3M undercoating. Nice Rubberized Black coating which should seal
up
the pans forever.

Now for the experimental part: I got some 6mil thick sheet plastic,
and glued that to the floor, and up the sides and over the sills(?). Should
prevent ANY
water from ever getting to the floor! (Well, we'll see.) Then, I got some
padding from
a local car upholstry shop and glued that down to cut down on noise and heat.

Oh yah, when I removed the old stuff, I saved what looks like aspestos sheeting
with metal
on one side, and glued it back on the transmission hump. (Yes, I wore gloves
and
a big-time respirator just in case it really is aspestos!)

Now the carpet kit is about half in, and I'm thinking about rebuilding the
seats. I hope
to get the rest of the kit in tomorrow night.

WAY too much fun!
