If all the basics- Tuning/carbs are okay...  Then you may have a problem
with the valve seats being cut too deeply..though this seems to cause
backfiring more through carbs. The cam timing may also be off..did the
problem occur after an engine rebuild? Perhaps there is an exhaust manifold
break or leak in the system somewhere? Just a few ideas to get the gears
turning upstairs..:)
