Pat -
I have converted my '79B to a Weber downdraft.

Pros: Great running, good mileage, needs header, no emission system,
easy to tune.
Cons: No emission system, no longer original.

If your twin SUs are in good condition, you might give some thought to
trying them before going to the expense of a Weber setup. Never
experienced the twins myself, but many have told me that properly
maintained and adjusted, they are reliable and effective. Your early
exhaust manifold will work with a Weber conversion. If you are
interested, I still have the manifold and ZS carb from my '79. I have
put in a rebuild kit on the ZS, but have never run it. If you are
concerned about emissions testing or originality, you would need to stay
with the original setup.
I never drove my car with the original ZS, so I can't compare the
performance. I can tell you it runs _Fast_, it's neat to feel the
secondary venturi kick in during acceleration.

E-mail me directly if you have any interest in my manifold and/or carb.

Good Luck
