I have a '73 roadster, and I would like to retrofit a dash from an
early (62-67) roadster. The problem is this - the mounting points
changed in '68 (darn the bad luck!). What I would like to know is if
anyone on the list had tried this successfully, and, if so, what did you
have to do (in as much detail as you care to supply).

First, what's so bad about the 73 dash?
If however, you're determined to make the switch this was my experience.
I inadvertently stumbled into one of these conversions on my first
restoration, a 70 B which arrived with a 67 dash left laying across the front
seats. The previous owner had begun to install it but quit somewhere after
removing (and discarding the original!) dash. As I recall, you must first
carefully bend the front lip in the shroud panel up to except the screws from
the 63-67 dash. I think the dash roll lines up fairly well with the mounting
holes for the later dash. You will also need to change over the defroster
vents which requires recutting the shroud to accept the vents. Rewiring
should not be to difficult providing you have all the early instruments and
bulb fittings. What do you intend to do about the oil gauge? I never did
install the steering column cowling or the center console so I can't say if
that will be trouble free.
By the way, when it was all over; I'd wished I'd track down an OEM.
