I have used a product called 'Rain - X' which does indeed shed water. I
drove at a good speed for about 2 hours in extremely heavy rain - no hood
and no windscreen wipers. The rain formed into small balls and just whipped
right off the windscreen. So efficiently did it do the job that I haven't
fixed the windscreen wipers yet.
