When BT in the UK first started thinking in a big way about push-button 
telephones one of their reliability labs was given the task of 
evaluating keypads from manufacturers all over the world.  They asked 
several Japanese companies what the Mean Time Between Failure of their 
product was and received the reply "What do you want it to be?".
