Daniel,

        Based on your description, it sounds like perhaps the line or
connectors for the fuel separator/gas fume trap, which mounts with a
bolt in the right hand side of the trunk.  I don't know if '72's had
them, but I know that '75's on had them.  It was part of the evaporative
loss control system.
