Folks,
Finally got the '60 A-coupe out of hibernation today and took a
leisurely trip from Warwick, NY to Newtown, CT. Took some back roads
out to RT. 84 and then motored off in celebration of British Car Week,
a total of about 200 miles.
217,613.5 people noticed me along the way! I count the small dog in
the van as an enthusiast because I saw his tail wagging as he went by.
By counting the cars coming towards me between mile posts as about 50,
adding the same number passing me in the same direction, cars parked
along the way, cars in shopping centers, people cutting grass, adding
a fudge factor gave me that number. Those coming toward me got the
full frontal exposure, those passing got it when they crained their
necks to look back.
Approximately, 1,700.5 people waved at me and the car. I counted the
trucker who waved only one finger(strange) but his hand moved, so it
was officially a wave.
To those people concerned about the next generation loving and wanting
our cars, that problem was solved during my drive today, too. I passed
several school buses on my trek and seeing all the schoolkids with
their faces pressed against the windows, many with their tongues out,
convinced me they really love MG's and the future is safe in their
hands. These were high school kids, BTW.
A few more statistics from my outing: Half the people driving were
blond women wearing pedal pushers, 1/3 were from Maine, 1/3 were men
working in financial centers, since their expressions looked pained
while talking on their cell phones and finally, 1/3 were out and out
enthusiasts all flashing lights, beeping horns, holding up "Go
British" signs and giving thumbs up. I wish.
Sadly, the only MG I saw was on the license plate of a trooper I
passed.
How many people saw you this week fully frontal?

Cheers, :>D
