While it is most gratifying to hear of American enthusiasts painting
Union Jacks on their cars, perhaps you should all wait a bit before
taking the plunge. If, possibly, you have been reading the Electronic
Telegraph on-line, as I do most days to keep informed about world
events, you will have read in the past couple of days about some
brainless peasant commissioned by an obscure and probably brain dead
British government department recommending that Great Britain give up
using the word Great as a prefix to Britain, that the National Anthem be
changed, and the Union Jack abandoned, all in favour of a bunch of
so-called 21st.Century imagery. And apparantly, the new American owners
of Joseph Lucas are also to abandon using the name Lucas here in the
States.

Would any listers care to suggest an alternative to the Union Jack? In
view of the fact that apparantly there are now more practising Moslems
in GREAT BRITAIN than there are Christians (the official religion),
perhaps we all should shortly be considering painting Isalmic symbols on
the boots of our MGs. I personally wouldn't give two hoots, (of a
Lucas horn, naturally) if you painted the Iraqi flag upside down.

Geoff Romberger, er, I mean Love.
