<< Okay, now _I_ have a question. A few weeks ago my smog pump locked up.
I pulled into a local LBC DYS garage (in this case, a bus stop), and
removed the belt. Amazingly that pesky squealing noise went away. ;)

My question is; Will I do any damage (to the car) by driving it this
 way?

Your air manifold will probably rust out. Other than that, not much.

Also; Can my pump be repaired, and if so, how much should I expect to
 pay?

Yes, I took mine off and to the local HI LO parts store. They sent it off to
be rebuilt. It took about three weeks and $70 (a whole lot cheaper than Moss
or VB replacement pumps). It is still in the garage in a box, but it's ready
when I need it!
