To all:
Well, I have come to the point of replacing the kingpins on my '73 MGB
everyday driver. I did this on my son's '76 Midget about three years ago and
it was very time consuming considering that we had to disassemble the swivel
axles, take them to a machine shop to have the bushings installed and reamed,
then reinstall them.
Having your own reamer would improve the situation but, $200 is a steep price
for something I'll need every ten to twenty years.
I saw a rebuilt swivel axle set in the VB catalog for $219 which would seem
like quite a deal as only a few additional rubber seals and bushings would
complete the job. I ordered it but, was told there would be a four week delay
until they were back in stock.
It seems that I recall someone's post recently saying another source had
these rebuilt kits at a slightly better price (and maybe they'd be in stock
too). Anybody got that info????
