Hi, Robert, it's me again...
I replaced the clutch in my Midget, and it's a snap. The hardest part is
pulling the engine out, and that's not hard at all. I rented an engine
hoist for $20 per day, and only used it one day to pull it out, and one day
to put the engine/tranny back in. I had never done it before, either.
Rather than pay some guy in NY that much money, I would wait until you got
it down here and could work on it yourself. You will enjoy doing it, you
will learn something, and it won't cost you $1000. You will get plenty of
help from the list, and I know there is at least one member of the list who
lives in the Durham area and who has a Midget. He seems knowledgeable,
too (are you out there, Chuck?) I have a clutch pilot tool you will need,
and I will be glad to loan it to you. Labor rates for your valve job, if
you really need one, should be much cheaper here, too.

Why can't they put manholes in the MIDDLE of the lane?
