Here is my 2 cents worth If you want a restored car either buy one
or try to do it yourself. Restoration shops are usually based on time and
materials. You pay them on a draw basis as the project progresses. When do
you say enough is enough? A fried of mine turned a model T over to a shop
and ended up paying over $20,000. If your car has rust take it to a
collision shop and see what they can do for you. If it has rust in the
sills (inner) especially in the front (pull the carpet up and look) your
are looking at major work. The car probably has a lot of hidden rust
behind the fenders. This is where the restoration shop will kill you.
Never put good money into a badly rusted body. Think how much it cost the
last time you had a dent removed then add a complete paint job etc. Find a
car with a good body and go from there. Every thing on the car is ment to
be replaced except the body. There are rust free cars out there without
going the route of a new body shell.
