axle shaft interchangability

Greetings listers,

Are axle shafts for disc and wire wheels on a tube-type rear axle
intercgangeable in any way?  Can I easily adapt the disc axles to accept
wire wheel hubs?  The reason I ask is that I'd like to install the rear-end
from my parts car which has discs on my driver that has wires.  The car is
a '67 GT if that matters to anyone.
