Dear Bill,
There are more than one Red River.
The one you and I know is the one that divides Minnesota and the
Dakotas, and originates up near Winnepeg and was the site/area of the
Riel rebellion in the 1860s and 1880s..
There is another Red River in and near Texas and Oklahoma which the song
was written about.
