I too hit a bottle jack standing upright on the interstate about 13
years ago while driving an MGB roadster! Yes, quite a noise as it
rumbled underneath but I must have been luckier than you..no damage
other than a mark on the front crossmember. 

As for your questions, I believe the exhaust manifold for the twin carb
versions are all interchangeable. Also the aftermarket tail lens are
copies of the originals..thus you can use an aftermarket upper with an
original lucas lower lens for example.
