Just recently, I drew up a scheme for my Triumph friends for adding a buzzer
that would sound if the transmission were to be placed in reverse with the OD
engaged. This could only happen if the transmission interlocks failed, but it
can happen. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I will send you a copy.
There is one *.txt file, and two *.jpg files. Even though it is for a Triumph,
the instructions are directly applicable to the MG as well. It is a very easy
installation, and can be done in an hour or less. Instructions are also
included for adding a simple light to indicate when power is applied to the OD
- but, as A.B. Bonds pointed out, there is no way to tell if it actually
engaged or not. Of course, it's not a problem if you think it is engaged but
it's not - the problem is when you think it is not, and it is!
The parts list includes one relay, one buzzer, an optional light or two, wire,
and connectors. Total cost about $10.
