Take the cap off of the steering rack (the cap at the end of the
steering shaft).  The shaft then slides loose of the u-joint and through
the steering rack at the place where you removed the cap.  Note: it is
not necessary to remove the nut from the end of the shaft (you'll see it
when you remove the cap) the nut is at the end of the shaft, the bearing
will also slide free with the shaft.
