Cleaning my engine and engine bay

Well...after having my car at the paint shop, my clean engine and engine bay
was completely covered with grinding dust from other cars in the shop...sooo
How do I clean that sucker out?  What do I need to cover, or do I just go at
it with a water hose?  heh

I suppose I need to cover the distributor...anything else that doesn't need
to get sprayed (besides various holes were emissions stuff used to be)?  :)

Anyway...I'm open to suggestions.  :)
