When I bought my B a couple years ago, the owner told me the speedometer
just quit on him. Upon investigation, I found that the instrument itself
was fine, the cable was good, the angle drive fine, and the speedo pinion
was ok. With the speedo pinion removed from the trans, I tried feeling and
looking for the speedo drive gear but couldn't see or feel it! Could
the drive gear be missing? The PO said the trans was never worked on.
Actually he was not the only PO so it may have!! What do you guys/gals
think? Can the drive easily be seen or felt? Thanks for the insight!!
